Search items by searchable custom fields

Search functionality allows attendees to quickly find what they are looking for in an event.  the Swapcard platform already offers the ability to search inside items’ pages using below different fields:

  • By name
  • By exhibitors name
  • By description
  • By custom fields - NEW!

Today, Swapcard introduces the ability to search by custom fields.

A custom field is a field that is added by the organizer, editable by the attendee or not, to give more information about the item.

For example, you could have a custom field that you created called “Color”

You can have values like “Yellow”, “Pink”, or “Orange”.

With this release, the attendee would be able to search an item by color.

For each custom field created, the organizer will just need to switch on if the custom field has to be included in the search results.

Exhibitors' recommendations

At Swapcard, we strive to provide attendees with a custom experience, which is why we show personalized content recommendations to them! We just launched exhibitors’ recommendations so that attendees can easily find exhibitors or sellers they may be looking to connect with.

Our AI makes these recommendations based on the data from attendee profile and their interactions with the app.

By clicking these personalized recommendations, the attendee will find relevant information about the exhibitors. In order to have more accurate recommendations, the attendee can either add more data to their profile or mark recommendations as irrelevant. The AI will learn from it and return more personalized recommendations.

At any time, the shortcut “Learn more” is available to give more information about Swapcard’s AI.

We hope you enjoy the personalized exhibitor recommendations!

Personalized recommendations are also available for People, Sessions & Items!

Creating and displaying Item Content in the Community

With a Swapcard community, organizers and exhibitors can engage with their audience long after their event ends. We have included updated and enriching content offerings in our communities to increase their value for members and exhibitors.

It is now possible to create and exhibit items (products, services, listings, and more) for the community. This means there will be access to these items after the event ends, which increases monetization opportunities for organizers.

Currently, items will be visible to all community members. We will be rolling out future updates that will allow organizers to customize their item visibility to select segments, creating opportunities to monetize the listings (for example, selling premium access).

This is how items currently look like for community members:

Unique Items per Community

Here’s a new update that we’re excited to share!

  • As an organizer, you will be able to reuse an Item Type that has previously been created in another event
  • As an exhibitor, you only need to create items once per Community. You will also be able to decide which event you want the items displayed for
  • As an organizer, you will be able to reuse any Item created in another event of the same Community

Organizers can reuse an Item Type

In Studio, when going to Items > Settings, you are now able to reuse an Item Type that has previously been created in another event within the same Community.

There is now a new search bar that allows you to find an existing Item Type and enable it for the current event. Also, a new button in the Item Type side panel allows you to “Remove the Item Type from the Event” without hard deleting it.

How does this work?

  • The Item Type is added to your event
  • All the sub-categories that were already created for the Item Type are also added
  • All the custom fields that are attached either to the Item Type or to any sub-category are also added
  • The Item Type is now shared in several events. This means that modifying any of the following will also modify it for all the events the Item Type is attached to:
    • Item Type itself
    • Sub-categories of the Item Type
    • Any custom field attached either to the Item Type or to any sub-category

Exhibitors create their items only once per Community

An Exhibitor can now create as many items as they want within an Item Type. This can then be carried over into several events within the same Community:

From the Exhibitor Center, an exhibitor can add all the items they want to the Item Type they've enabled for an event by clicking on the "ADD" button.

The exhibitor can then decide which of the items they'd like to make visible for the current event. To do this, the exhibitor can simply click on the eye icon of any item to make it visible or invisible.

For the current event, the limit on the total amount of items the exhibitor can make visible is either:

1️. The limit of the root category of the exhibitor itself (unique per Event) OR IF NOT SET

2. The limit of the root category on the highest group the exhibitor is a member of on this event OR IF NOT SET

3. The limit of the root category (common to the whole Community)

⚠️ Warning: No matter what items are enabled for a specific event, the order of the exhibitor’s item list for a specific Item Type is consistent across the whole Community. This means modifying the order will modify it for all the events where the exhibitor is present and where the Item Type is enabled.

Organizers can reuse Items created in another event of the same Community

It is now possible to carry over an Item that has been already created in another event to a new event.

The process for this is simple. Let’s say for Event B you’d like to bring over select items that you created in Event A.

  1. Go to Event A in the Studio and download the Items as an Excel file
  2. Clean your Excel list so that only the Items you want to reuse remain (delete the non-relevant lines)
  3. Go to Event B in the Studio, click on Add Items, and then choose the new option “Import content already existing in the Community”
  4. Upload the updated Excel file
  5. There you have it! All the Items that already exist won’t be duplicated but instead carried over to the new event.

Indoor positioning in the event Map 🧭

In-person events are back, and finding the right place to attend a session or meet an exhibitor can be a challenge.

We are a really excited to announce that we have added Indoor Positionning and Navigation to our Map feature thanks to IndoorAltas technology!

It is now possible to be geolocated on the map by displaying a blue dot indicating your position.

To allow the display of the blue dot, the venue requires to be equipped with beacons. Beacons are small devices that should be installed at several points in order to send signals to the smartphone.

When using indoor positioning with IndoorAtlas, it is now possible to use the blue dot as the routing starting point. Here are the steps to follow:

  • On the map, select a booth you want to visit, then click on “Directions” to set the route.
  • In the field “From”, select the option “Current location” to set your position as a starting point.
  • Finally, click on “Route” to launch the way-finding.

The blue dot is moving along the path at the same time you’re walking! 🚶‍♂️

Upload video file for Pre-recorded session

This new feature gives users the ability to upload videos into the studio for streaming in the event app using the new “Pre-recorded” section.

The organizer can now upload any videos with the following specifications:

  • Mp4, MOV, m4v, Mkv
  • Max file size of 3 GB
  • 3 hours in length
  • HD quality (1920x1080p)

Once uploaded, by selecting the “Pre-recorded” format and then selecting “Video files” as the live streaming provider, validation will occur for the given specifications. A preview window will then be shown once the video has been uploaded. This preview will include basic controls (play/pause, navigate through video, video length, and volume controls), giving users the ability to watch a preview of the uploaded video.

Users have the option of deleting the video and uploading a new video in its place. Only one video is allowed at a session

Uploaded videos will be played in the event app the same way a streaming provider is currently played.

After setting the video’s playback session time and availability start date, users will be able to select whether to make the stream public or private, as well as select and set the video’s availability start date and availability end date. In line with the current functionality, the stream will be available within a designated period of time. If no end date is set, the session’s end date will be used in its place.

Marking items & sessions recommendations as irrelevant

Swapcard's core mission is to create meaningful connections. Today, we’d like to focus on the “meaningful part”.

Thanks to our AI-powered matchmaking, Swapcard already highlights items and sessions that match your interests. Note that items can mean different things depending on your event, such as products, services, courses, and so on. Sessions are the heart of event programs but can be flexible too, including multiple activity formats, such as keynotes and panels.

What is actually more important is that these items or sessions proposed are relevant to you. That’s why we keep working to enhance the platform’s capabilities to provide even personalized experiences that feel “made for you”.

Here’s where our newest release comes in! Our AI models are already trained on a regular basis and as of now, participants can also bookmark items or session recommendations as irrelevant, making them a part of this powerful AI process.

Basically, as you reject a recommendation, the system will learn that you don’t find it relevant and will, in the future, learn to recommend a better match. Thanks to this new feature, you will have qualified algorithms providing a user workflow configured especially to your taste.

To mark recommendations as irrelevant, attendees can simply click the ‘x’ sign on the top right corner of the presented match. After this action, the marked item or the session will not be recommended anymore as the system will learn and adjust its recommendations. The action can also be quickly undone by pressing the “undo” option at the bottom of the screen.

You can do the same and have a personalized AI for people!

Closed captioning and live transcription

Closed captioning is now available for all Swapcard streams and simu-live pre-recorded sessions.

A new button (CC) is shown within the player in the event app, whether it is a Swapcard stream or a simu-live pre-recorded session

There are two types of closed captioning being added to Swapcard streaming (RTMP) and pre-recorded sessions using video upload.

Basic Closed Captioning: Auto-generated standard quality subtitles, English language only. This is set by default on the player in the event app. Users can enable it at no extra cost by pressing the CC button embedded in the player.

Professional Closed Captioning: A powerful AI tool supported by a professional to monitor each session and provide high quality subtitles. The closed captioning professional will be correcting the live closed captions provided with no delay, for $290 per hour. We require at least 3 days advanced notice in order to assign a closed captioning professional to your session. Specific words can be submitted to teach the AI and assist the professionals to be 100% accurate with the closed captions.
NB: Translations are available in 28 languages for on-demand and pre-recorded videos. For live session, only English is available for now.

CC will be shown on both the Web platform and mobile apps. It will also be provided in the Studio app’s preview window.
