Similar recommendations in a community

This latest community update will help you easily navigate around your Community by recommending similar exhibitors, sessions, or items to the topics you like.

How does this work?

Similar to events, the information a user provides trains the AI to find connections between all topics you like in the Community.

Of course, similar recommendations will respect the restricted groups and restricted content set up by the organizer and will exclude them accordingly. There is also the option to switch on/off similar recommendations at both the Event level and the Community level.

Which recommendations does this include?

They include:

  • Similar session recommendations
  • Similar item recommendations
  • Similar exhibitor recommendations

Option to disable similar session recommendations at event level

At Swapcard, we want to give organizers more control over recommendations. That’s why we’ve given organizers the ability to enable or disable the following session recommendations:

  • Personalized recommendations (carousel)
  • Similar recommendations (”you may also like”)

The ability to disable similar session recommendations can be helpful, for example, in case the organizer is planning lunch/coffee breaks and doesn’t want similar sessions to be displayed for them.

As for the other similar recommendations, organizers can change the settings in the Studio → Content → Sessions → Sessions settings → Similar recommendations. Here, they’ll be able to see the toggle to enable/disable similar recommendations.

By default, the toggle will be switched on.

Newsfeed at Community Level

A Swapcard community is a powerful way to engage with your audience year-round. The newsfeed is a great way to make your audience interact and it is now available for the community.

How does it work?

From the studio, in the community section, organizers must first create the feed view for the content display.

Organizers can then choose the label and the color for the newsfeed view

The community newsfeed view

Once the newsfeed view is created, attendees will see a new tab for the newsfeed on the community home page. There they can easily share posts and interesting articles that will kickstart conversations with any member of the community.

Improved offline mode for Lead Retrieval in case of a bad connection

Good news! Our application already manages the offline mode, but we know that during in-person events a bad connection can happen due to limited network coverage or poor wifi.

We’re happy to announce that our lead retrieval now autonomously saves and synchronizes the scans done when the connection is bad, meaning you won't ever have to worry about losing a lead!

Note : This feature is only available on iOS and will soon be released on Android

Custom Form Fields by Registration Ticket

Swapcard Registration just got a little bit more flexible! We’ve updated our form builder to allow you to show or hide fields based on the ticket selected. Note, that these filters only apply during the registration process. You’ll still want to use Group permissions to control fields within the app.

With this new feature, you’ll be able to customize your form to collect only the data you need. You can choose to show the field to All Tickets and the field will always appear.

Or, if you need to limit this field to one or more tickets you can choose specific tickets and select only the ones that are applicable.

As a bit of a Pro Tip, choosing “All tickets” will make sure that the field is available for the tickets that exist and new ones that may be added later. If you choose “Specific tickets” and select all the current tickets individually, any new ticket types that are added later won’t see this field.

Emails manager - Email editor UI revamp

As you may know, we are actively working on the redesign of email management from the studio. In this first phase of the redesign we have improved email editing with the following changes :

  • Redesign of the navigation which is now on the right of the preview with tabs to be more easily usable
  • Clicking on a block now opens the associated tab in edit mode
  • The list of available blocks is now clearly visible and each block can be added with a simple click

Session Signup/Bookmark at the Community Level

It is now possible to signup/bookmark for Sessions in a Community the same way it’s done at an event.

You’ll find the Sessions you’ve registered for in the “My schedule” and “My videos (on-demand sessions)” tab from the “My favorites view.

How to enable session registration in a Community?

For each session, which for now is only configurable at the event level in Studio, go to the session details section, navigate to “Preferences,”  and you’ll find a new toggle saying:

“Allow community members to register for the session”

  • If this toggle is turned on and the session is visible to the community, any community member will be able to register for it
  • If this toggle is turned off and the session is visible to the community, no community members will be able to register for it. Only event members from the event the session has been created from will be able to register.

Updated Community Analytics Dashboard

We’re excited to announce the latest addition to the Community Analytics Dashboard, including:

  • Engagement comparison

Organizers now have the ability to view Community-related actions and Event-related actions in the dashboard to help them analyze the growth of their communities over a period of time and compare event metrics. Organizers can use this data in order to improve the performance of their events and communities going forward.

  • User Activity

Depending on the organizer's selection in the “content” section above, the data is displayed for the community and/or selected events. This section outlines the active user numbers in a community over a period of time and throughout various events that were hosted by the community.
Having a clear overview of the peak times that users are active throughout the event can help event organizers improve and promote engagement or user activities at future events.

  • Number of logins by device

As with the Event Analytics Dashboard, this section represents the app usage per platform. Event organizers are able to see how users are accessing the event (whether they’re using the web app, iOS, or Android) and the percentage of users this represents compared to the overall number.

  • Networking

In line with data on the Event Analytics Dashboard, Community related networking statistics are available to organisers on the Community analytics dashboard.

  • Contact Scoring

Similarly to the event analytics, the Contact Scoring section provides an overview of the number of contacts that have received a score, ranging from 1 - 5 stars and the representative % of the total number. Organizers also have an overview of the average score based on the total number of scorings. This scoring can be a great indicator of whether attendees have embraced connecting with others within the community and how relevant they consider their connections to be.

Stay tuned for more exciting Community Dashboard improvements to become available soon!

Introducing Speaker Backstage! (Beta)

We are really excited to introduce our speaker Backstage: an easy and powerful tool to power your streams.

From everyday in-person streaming to professional keynote broadcasting, Backstage can do all this and more.

Using our best technology and our HD low latency stream RTMP protocol (Swapcard streaming), Backstage is closing the gap (and the need) for a third-party studio or streaming app.

The goal of Backstage is to provide our Swapcard streaming users with a tool to generate and edit live streams into Swapcard by inviting speakers to the session and deciding which speaker takes the stage.

Up to 99 speakers can be invited and 16 at a time can share the center stage!

Interface of Live Backstage with 16 speakers on stage

To enrich the streams, Backstage allows users to set up and design their preferred stream, giving users the chance to add custom logos, upload and stream simultaneous videos with live speakers, define and customize templates, share moderator and participant screens, enrich streams with uploaded backgrounds and text, and communicate live with all their viewers using Swapcard’s best features such as polls, chats, questions, and so much more.

Two versions of Backstage are available right now: one for creators and moderators, and one for speakers. Moderators are the creators of sessions and therefore have the option to create a Backstage session too. Moderators can easily invite speakers by selecting people from a community list. Speakers can then join from either mobile or desktop to start participating in an event app session.

Backstage will continue to add features for both moderators and creators. These planned releases include: recording studio videos; the ability to stream anytime anywhere; sharing recorded videos live with a community; personalizing templates and looks; communicating internally with the speakers; and downloading all your recordings and streams.

Future version of Live Backstage

Professional hardware can be used to enhance our 1080 HD videos by selecting any connected hardware like mics and cameras. This equipment can be selected and swapped out while on a stream.

Seamless live streaming with high-definition video and crystal-clear audio is of course at the center of Backstage, allowing a low-latency stream with integrations for the community to quickly participate and interact.

Full and easy integration with Swapcard Studio allows users to create a session and start streaming in a matter of seconds.

To access Backstage as a creator, simply create a session and select “Live stream”, and then choose “Swapcard streaming.”

Once the session is created, select “Swapcard Backstage” to join. Users added in the studio session as speakers can participate as they join.

Accessing Live Backstage as a moderator from a session on the Studio

Speakers can easily join via an invite link or by simply opening the event app and navigating to the session. Once in the session, invited speakers will see a button prompting them to join the stage. Clicking on the “Join Backstage” button will redirect the speaker Backstage. Now, the speaker only has to wait for the moderator or directly join the Backstage session.

Accessing Live Backstage as a speaker from a session on the Event App

Speakers and moderators alike have the option to select hardware while in the waiting room or when in the stream. They can also toggle mute or unmute and turn the camera on or off.

Moderators can decide who takes the center stage and who is on the stream by simply toggling the user switch to on. A default template will be available for now, and different ones will be available at later dates.

The option to go live or end a stream on the event app is also for the moderators to decide by simply clicking the “Go live” button in Backstage. There is no need to be present in Studio. If moderators wish to have control of ramp credentials, stream data, and so on, they can continue using all of the existing features in Studio for RTMP.

Both Speaker and Moderator versions are accessible from mobile at any time and are fully compatible with the web version.
