Swapcard's RTMP Support and Player 馃嵖
We’re excited to launch Swapcard's native live streaming, a feature that will make it easier for organizers to broadcast higher quality, professional-looking live streams. Swapcard Stream provides organizers more flexibility as they can now directly connect web conferencing tools like Zoom or Microsoft Teams to Swapcard. Swapcard Stream also provides powerful data to give organizers key insights to improve audience engagement.
All this is possible thanks to RTMP technology.
RTMP stands for “Real-Time Messaging Protocol.” It is part of the technology that makes live streaming possible. It is capable of low-latency streaming, which is a major advantage for broadcasters and event organizers streaming big events in real-time.
Before this launch, all videos linked to sessions in Swapcard were embedded through a 3rd party player (Youtube or Vimeo) in the Swapcard app. With this launch, we no longer depend on these 3rd party players. Instead, we are providing organizers the ability to stream with lower latency.
This solution will improve the overall video quality and provide insightful information, data, and analytics on the viewing behavior of attendees. Additionally, set-up is now simpler: video editing software (Restream or OBS, for example) or web conferencing tools (Zoom or Microsoft Teams) can be connected directly to Swapcard.
